Some home projects need more than standard groundwork.

Retaining walls

Engineered work for homes

A steep garden, a wall that holds up a driveway, or ground that cannot carry a normal foundation all need a design from a structural engineer, and a contractor who builds it exactly as drawn.

We regularly build from engineers’ drawings and follow the specification closely. If you do not yet have an engineer, we can explain what your project is likely to need before you commission one.

  • Built exactly to the engineer’s drawings
  • Materials as specified
  • Inspections planned into the work

Common questions

Retaining walls: your questions.

Do I need a structural engineer for a retaining wall?

For a wall over about a metre high, or one that holds up a drive, a building or a neighbour’s garden, almost certainly yes, and building control will usually ask for a design. We can tell you early whether your wall needs one.

Can you build from drawings I already have?

Yes. Send them with your enquiry and we will price the work exactly as drawn.

Who deals with building control?

Your designer or builder usually makes the application, and we build to the approved design. We make sure the work is ready and open for each inspection.
